Woven Space

Stripped willow

Woven Space was created within Chatsworth Garden at the invitation of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and the Chatsworth House Trust. It began life as a preliminary, experimental study for a larger, interior work that followed entitled, Into the Weave in 2010. Built as a means to explore internal space and the concept of being completely within a natural, handmade space, it was built entirely on site, using the existing voids and pathways within the old yew as a basis for the shape.  Being relatively experimental, Woven Space was originally intended as a temporary addition to the garden to last for 6 months, but was actually enjoyed by visitors for over 5 years, until 2015.
